The No Makeup Look for Spring

We're seeing a lot of the no makeup look on the runway and on celebrities this Spring. The May issure of Marie Claire has Jessica Simpson supposedly with no makeup.
Jessica may claim that she has no makeup on. But the no makeup look is not really achieved with no makeup. How many of us really look good with a naked face.
This is a perfect look for those of you whose main style is Sporty or who have a Spring coloring or personality. It's also a great look for the young. Here's what I suggest if you want to wear this look.
First, the no makeup look does not mean the no skin care look. There is no way you will look good if you haven't taken care of your skin. So, the minimum is cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.
Next, take a good look at your skin. A tinited moisturizer with sunscreen may be all that you need. But if your skin tone is less than perfect, you may want to even it out with a light application of foundation. You can also take your foundation and mix it with your moisturizer for a light, dewey look. As for blush, either skip it or a very light touch of cream blush.
For the eyes, I'm going to use eye primer to cover up any darkness on the lid and a light application of a skin tone shadow. I'll skip the eyeliner or use a powder eyeshadow as liner. And powder on the brows, if necessary. Finish up with lots and lots of mascara.
And here's my trick for putting just a little bit of color on the lips. Just lip primer and then lipliner that I then use to fill in the whole lip area. Or use just a touch of gloss.
And here's my last caveat. The no makeup look may not be for everyone. As I tell all my clients, if the trend doesn't suit you or if you're just not comfortable wearing a trend, then don't. You really have to take the trends that fit you best and leave behind trends that just aren't appropriate for you or modify a trend to fit your style.
