Believe it or not, women are prohibited from wearing pants in Paris unless she is on a bicycle or riding a horse. Has been illegal since 1799. A police chief in 1969 suggested that women in pants was just a fad.
However, you can wear pants with special police permission. Imagine the lines at the police station. Could instigate the repeal of the law.
After reading about pants in Paris, I had to do a little more research on clothing restrictions.
Here are a few more interesting laws/guidelines on women's clothing.
The all-male Morehouse College banned the wearing of women's clothes. Presumably, aimed at cross-dressers.
No stilettos in the workplace in the UK.
No miniskirts at a college in Brazil.
Pants on women are banned in the Sudan and Somalia.
Women must wear a corset in Norfolk, Virginia. But women are not permitted to wear a corset in Merryville, Missouri.
Dresses must cover the ankle in Deadwood, South Dakota.
Melbourne, Florida. No thong bathing suits for anyone over the age of 10 years.
