Good Posture for Good Health

How many times did your mother remind you to stand up straight. Posture is so important for how we feel and look. It's a circle. When we feel good, we stand up straighter and look better. And when we look better, we feel better which helps us stand up straighter. I recently heard chiropractor Jamie Lucia speak on the importance of good posture. Below you'll see a bit of what she has to say about posture. Notice how often she refers to stress and anxiety reduction. Couldn't we all use a little less stress and a better self-image?
"Good posture is not only important for your appearance, but studies show that proper posture is good for your health and well-being as well. Good posture can improve both your mental and physical heattlh in a variety of ways. Good posture promotes proper spinal alignment and muscle tone, causing your nervous system to function more effectively and for you to feel less stress, fatigue, and anxiety at the end of the day. Good posture is also important to your heart. lungs, and digestive tract as well. An upright posture allows for your lungs, heart, and digestive tract to function at their maximum capacity as it opens up the area of the body that houses these organs. And good posture allows us to breathe deeply, which again reduces stress and anxiety, by bringing more blood and energy to the brain. And finally, good posture promotes an air of self-confidence by causing you to begin each day with a better self image.
