Spanx Vs. Yummi Tummi

Sometimes, parts of our body loses control and we need to get it back.  Even the thinnest of us has a spot or two that could use a little push in.  The new shapewear is a lot different from our mothers' girdles.  But which one.

I've tried both Spanx and Yummi Tummi.  And my choice is Yummi Tummi.  Why?  Purely on comfort.  I don't care if I'm all sucked in tight if I can't move or breath.  Plus I've reached that stage in life when sometimes I have my own personal summer in the middle of winter.  I don't always need more heat than shapewear can contribute.

What do I like about Yummi Tummi?  It's easy to get it.  There are a variety of styles--tank (my fave) and strappy that I've seen in stores.  There are quite a few fashion foward styles in different colors that can be ordered on the Yummi Tummi website. Also, there are two lengths--an extra 3 inches for the long.  And that helps keep it tucked in and smooths a little farther down.  The very top section is 100% cotton, so you aren't all squished in on top.  And that helps with the heat factor.  Sizes are XS to 3X.

Yummi Tummi is designed to control the mid section.  There is a slip version that goes to just below the behind. But if you need more thigh control or you need hip and thigh control when wearing pants, you will want to look into Spanx.

Spanx Vs. Yummi Tummi

As I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee, I was watching ABC's Good Morning America. I nearly spit my coffee out when I watched comedian/contributor Anita Renfroe sing a tribute to the yummy tummy sensation Spanx. For those of you who are men, Spanx is the 21st century answer to the corset and girdle. Spanx was designed by entrepreneur Sara Blakely, who was actually looking for the answer to the dreaded panty line and the uncomfortable fit of panty hose debt consolidation. After much work and many patents the yummy tummy flattener Spanx was born.

Blakely was a sales trainer by day and a stand up comic by night, but she had something in common with all the women in the world. She hated panty hose, but needed something to hide her panty line and smooth out a few lumps and bump without taking her breath away mortgage calculator. So with her $5,000 savings account, no business experience and lots of determination, Blakely birthed Spanx. I, myself, was ecstatic to see this creation come to fruition. Being a plus-sized gal, I was always self conscious about my extra lumps and bumps. I hated wearing panty hose, and I especially hated wearing panty hose with toes credit card. To be honest, whenever I had to wear panty hose -- and let me tell you I purposely made it so that it was a rare occasion -- I would buy a pair in a larger size than I needed. I'm shorter than your average woman, so buying them bigger allowed me to pull them up all the way to my neck. Okay, maybe not my neck, but far up enough to smooth wrinkles. What I hated the most, they would always roll down. So I was constantly having to run to the ladies room to fix them. Not good. Then one night for some reason I was watching a home shopping channel and saw Spanx. I was amazed, but at that time in my life, I didn't need them. I was actually sad, I wanted to try this product, especially if it was going to make me have a more flattering figure. Hell, if it could work miracles then I would never have to worry about dieting ever again.
