Are You in a Clothing Rut?

Do you wear always wear the same jacket with the same pants or the same necklace with the same top over and over again? You are in a clothing rut. It's easy to fall into it. You don't have to think much, just pull out what you know works together, and put it on.
But after a while, you get bored with dressing and you start to look...well, a little boring. Remember when you were little and played dress up with your mother's clothes? I am giving you permission to become a child again and play with your clothes. Get out of that rut. I'm going to start you out slowly and give you one tip now with more tips to come.
So here's your first tip. Do this just one time in the next week. When you're dressed and you grab your necklace, the one you always wear with this outfit, STOP. Put that necklace down, look at all your other necklaces, and pick something different. Do the same with your earrings. And if you really want to stir things up, don't grab another necklace, but look at your scarves and pick one of those to wear.
Here's how I did that today. I'm wearing chocolate brown and oyster white. I started looking for my brown and beige stone necklace, the one I always wear with brown. Well, I stopped and picked up my teal, turquoise and brown necklace. I always wear this necklace with my teal outfits, but it adds a little punch of color with the brown. And I finished off the outfit with a large teal handbag that gives a BIG punch of color instead of the brown one I would normally reach for.
