Denim on Denim

A big trend for this Spring season is denim on demin--jeans, chambray shirt, and a denim jacket is one example. Not surprising that some stores, like Gap, are all for it. And other stores and designers are helping you get this look by taking non-denim fabrics, such as cashmere, silk, leather, and dyeing them to look like denim.
For me, personally, it's not a look that I'm going to adopt. Denim is not my favorite fabric. It's too stiff and uncomfortable for my body type. And my style does not lean towards sporty. I do have a denim jacket, but I rarely wear jeans. And, although I love cashmere and silk, I'm not sure making these fabrics look like denim isn't going to make them look tacky.
If you are going to try this look, let me give you a tip or two for making it look right. First, make sure your pieces are not all one color--go for different washes. Second, use different fabric weights--heavier denim for the jeans, softer chambray for the shirt. And, third, throw on a few accessories to break up the all denim look and show a little of your own style.
What about you? Are you going to try this trend? How are you going to combine pieces for your personal denim on denim look?
